Could You Live Everyday Like Today For Eternity?

Could you live every day like today for the rest of your life?

It’s a very interesting thought experiment, don’t you think? And I think if you say yes to that, you’re among the most fortunate people on this planet.

This is what creation has done for me.

I’ve basically been living the same day every day for the last seven years. It’s like Groundhog Day. I wake up, go to work, shoot my photos, rinse and repeat. Throw a couple little vacations in there every once in a while. But every day of my life, I have this thing with me and I’m creating. I never stop creating.

I’m going to create right now. Always creating.

This notion that you can just live like this for eternity is wild to think about. Obviously, we’re all going to leave this world eventually, but do we really leave this world if we create enough?

The answer is probably no.

We’re going to live on forever.

I’m studying my boy Heraclitus, my ancestor Heraclitus. That guy was born 2,500 years ago, and guess what? He’s going to live for eternity. People are going to be talking about Heraclitus until this star up here blows up and this world ceases to exist.

That’s how long we’ll be talking about Heraclitus.

And I feel like if you create enough, you’re going to give something back to the world.

Creation is great. It’s a two-way street.

I mean, you’re not only creating because you’re a maker and you want to give something back, but you’re also creating because it makes you feel good. It’s a selfish endeavor, maybe.

So it works out for everyone.

There are no losers in this game.

Once you really start thinking about it, if you’re not at that place where you could live today every day for eternity, it’s probably time to make a change.

We’re only here once.

What’s the point of squandering this beautiful life that we live?

It doesn’t even need to be about photography. It could be the simplest things. It could literally just be raising your three kids and going to work every day. That’s all it is, and that’s all you need. That’s the best.

But I think it’s important to figure it out through trial and error. Create as much as possible.

Hey, that might be creating some babies. Whatever.

What’s more noble than creating the future?

Because without the future, this planet dies.

I’m creating.

Maybe one day they’ll be talking about it in 2,500 years, like Heraclitus.

But yeah, if you happen to run across this video, I highly recommend asking yourself that question and seeing where you’re at in this world.

And if you have the opportunity to create, create, create, create, create instead of consume, I think that’s the best spot to be in.

Ultimately, I think being a maker and not a taker is the ultimate path to eternal happiness and fulfillment.

Do it.
