I grew up between Cincinnati and rural Indiana, two very different environments that shaped how I see the world. Over the years, living and working in different places has left me curious about people, the environments we build around ourselves, and the small details that are easy to overlook.

I came to photography through that curiosity. I believe getting better at photography has less to do with equipment and more to do with practice: walking, looking, making a lot of photographs, and learning from them. The more I photograph, the more clearly I understand what interests me and what doesn’t.

Today I live in Santa Monica and spend much of my time walking through West Los Angeles with a camera. I’m drawn to ordinary scenes, fleeting moments, shadows, signs, fragments, and chance encounters. I’m interested in the difference between simply seeing something and actually looking at it.

You cannot photograph the same street twice.
