ISO 3200 For Street Photography
I’m sold on this for shooting street. This allows me to keep a high shutter speed and depth of field in basically any situation. I’ve been keeping it in snap mode at 1m and it’s too easy. The grain is noticeable but not distracting. I added some grain in Silver Efex Pro, too. Here’s aContinue reading “ISO 3200 For Street Photography”
Give Me Light
It makes everything better.
Too Much Sky
Trying to avoid taking pictures with too much sky in them. No easy feat since I’m on the beach a lot.
Choose Your Path
Do you want your photos to look good in an art gallery or make you feel angry, sad or happy? Ideally both, but life doesn’t usually look at that great showcased on a wall.
Thoughtful Composition
I think the type of street photography that has very deliberate compositions are quite boring to look at. I know the photographer hung out at the scene for an indefinite amount of time waiting for the moment to strike. I appreciate the dedication, but the result is lost on me. Life is chaotic. LA Street Photography
I think it’s way underrated for street photography. In LA there’s such a wide variety of places to shoot that all look different. Easier to make a nice image that looks very different from one another. And there’s no reason not to come away with decent photos on a daily basis. You could bike downContinue reading “LA Street Photography”
Color in Photos
If the only thing interesting is the color, is it an interesting photo? Probably looks good on the wall but has little emotional value for me, at least. I see a lot of good color photos but seems like there is a tendency to match colors in the frame. The photo becomes more about theContinue reading “Color in Photos”
Ricoh GRiii Street Photography Settings
I’ll start with shooting settings. 99% I’m using snap focus. I use snap distance priority so I can easily change distance using the front wheel. I start at 2m and change accordingly. You’ll have grainy files using my ISO settings. Adjust the lower ISO setting if you want cleaner photos. Here are the JPEG settings.
