I Know So Little About The History Of Photography
And I don’t care. Im not trying to name drop all my favorite artists. I’ll let the academics who stare at a photo on a wall for 30 minutes do that. I prefer being the dumb grunt with good work ethic.
Stay In The Middle
If you’re documenting the streets everyday, better to stay apolitical. Engaging too deeply with either side will cloud your vision and impact how you shoot. Plus it will make you a miserable person. Anyone who is obsessed with politics seems to be angry.
Shoot Then Move On
Why the spectacle? You’re most likely delete the photo anyways so you’re basically being a public nuisance for nothing.
Getting Caught
I’d rather miss the shot, my intentions are not to make people feel self-conscious or be a public nuisance. I think the key here is to develop an approach that is the most non-confrontational so you can continue to shoot photos without fear of backlash.
Missing “The Shot.”
Anyone who is concerned about this isn’t taking enough photos.

Watching these guys on YouTube get in peoples faces, take a photo and then display feigned interest is the worst. The typical overly enthusiastic “I love your hat” or “nice shades” is to avoid a negative confrontation, not because the photographer is actually interested in them. People that use overblown language to describe their photos or process are the CD buskers of the photography world.
