Ya, that was quick. Was messing around in Lightroom and the post processing just looked better in color. Shooting in B/W all year is already over.

New Year Aspirations
It’s 2026, new year and reinvigorated inspiration. 2025 was decent for my photography but I didn’t feel very productive. I was going all in on IG reels and posting daily but gained very little traction and just a few followers. As I was looking back at previous photos and the time when I felt theContinue reading “New Year Aspirations”
More Dynamic Range, Less Contrast?
Leaning in this direction. Maybe my high contrast phase is over?
Quality and Efficiency In Workflow
What’s quality? A pleasing and sharp image? Good enough to print? What’s efficiency? A library that is fast to maintain and process. A happy medium between quality and speed. Too much quality = too slow Too fast = less quality Meet me in the mid workflow. I think my current workflow is the happy medium.
Does High ISO Matter Anymore?
I don’t think so. Especially so for black and white street photography where a little grit is welcomed. I found the highest ISO photo in my Lightroom library. This photo was taken at 25,600 ISO with my Nikon Zf. I used the Denoise feature at 50 to smooth it out a bit. I think itContinue reading “Does High ISO Matter Anymore?”
3319 Keepers Since July 1st, 2023
My new workflow has yielded an insane amount of keepers. Small high contrast b/w JPEGs only. Minimal post processing and quick editing. I haven’t shot a raw photo in six months. Go beyond “the moment” and photograph whatever inspires you. If it’s a piece of trash, take a photo. Get off Instagram. It has too much influence on us. Seeking validationContinue reading “3319 Keepers Since July 1st, 2023”
Go Heavy On The Sepia
Go big or go home. A slight color cast looks fine but a warmer photo is preferable for me.
Bragging About Post Processing
“I spent two hours editing that photo” seems like a massive waste of time to me. A properly exposed photo should only take a few minutes to post process. Propaganda by editing software tells us we need more useless software.
5% Keeper Rate
In the past I’d return from a trip and have so many “keeper” photos. Most were not keepers and better deleted. But I’d save them because “maybe I can make them better in post” or other rationale. Now I’ve streamlined my workflow that I might come back from a weekend adventure with only 50 photosContinue reading “5% Keeper Rate”
