28mm is my favorite focal length but 90mm is great for sitting back and relaxing. A nice switch up from being in the action with a wide angle lens. I always hear a telephoto lens make you feel like an observer and I think that’s true and exactly how I felt tonight for my photoContinue reading “90mm for Relaxation”

Much respect…
to the street/documentary photographers doing amazing work in places other than the bigger cities worldwide. I don’t have many examples, but I followed Matthew from Montana a while back on IG. Always enjoy seeing his work.
My Best Black and White Photos – 2023
I finally organized my best black and white photos from 2023. This year has been odd. I spent the first two months fighting the SoCal flu. Not sure how it happened but we all had it and I didn’t feel right for months. The weather here has been cold and gloomy by our standards. SoContinue reading “My Best Black and White Photos – 2023”
Mom
She hates looking at photos of herself. Surprisingly, she loved this photo which if funny to me because it shows her addiction to ice cream. Look how much ice cream is in the freezer. It’s always nice when I visit home. During my last trip to Cincinnati I remembered how much I like it. HomeContinue reading “Mom”
Exploitation
“the action or fact of treating someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work.” Seems to be a common thought about photographing people from poor neighborhoods and/or countries. I think it’s total BS. Look at this lady below. Does she look exploited? I saw her working behind these huge slabs of meat in anContinue reading “Exploitation”
El Salvador and Guatemala
I finally got around to updating this site with my photos from these two gorgeous countries. I’ll get around to writing more about them eventually. Here’s the link to the photos if you’re interested.
Five Frames From Venice Beach
Still experimenting with post processing. Really liking the Film Noir 3 preset in Silver Efex Pro. I made a few adjustments to each photo but it took no time at all.
Found A Snail
I asked ChatGPT to tell me an interesting fact about this snail I photographed yesterday. “An interesting fact about snails is that they are hermaphrodites, meaning that each individual has both male and female reproductive organs. When two snails mate, they exchange sperm, and each snail can then fertilize the eggs of the other. ThisContinue reading “Found A Snail”
Five Frames From Santa Monica
Went out after work into the bad light and did my daily photo walk. When the light isn’t the best, I suppose that’s where post processing comes in. I decided to use the Film Noir 3 preset in Silver Efex Pro and I like the way the photos came out. It turned otherwise uninteresting lightContinue reading “Five Frames From Santa Monica”
When Dynamic Range Is Nice
I try to get the photo right in camera, but sometimes it isn’t possible. This isn’t the best photo, but it is an historical account of an incident in Santa Monica. This photo is an extreme case as the super bright white wall and the firemen in the shadows are about five stops difference. IContinue reading “When Dynamic Range Is Nice”
