If there’s good light, I’ll be there. Hopefully a nice moment happens in it. Pleasing aesthetics over moment for now.

One With The Light
So happy the sun is back. It’s been a gloomy year so far on the beach. Looking forward to making some photos in harsh and golden light. Both look good in black and white in my opinion. The light makes it all pop.
More Black, More White
Deeper blacks and brighter whites just look good.
ISO 3200 For Street Photography
I’m sold on this for shooting street. This allows me to keep a high shutter speed and depth of field in basically any situation. I’ve been keeping it in snap mode at 1m and it’s too easy. The grain is noticeable but not distracting. I added some grain in Silver Efex Pro, too. Here’s aContinue reading “ISO 3200 For Street Photography”
Raw or JPEG?
I love the idea of JPEG, but I’m going back to raw for now. Shooting raw and processing black and white photos in Silver Efex Pro is King. Takes more time, but all I got is time. Not sure what’s going on with the Ricoh processor but I’ve noticed some really blotchy results when shootingContinue reading “Raw or JPEG?”
Tweaking JPEG Settings

Ricoh GRiii Street Photography Settings
I’ll start with shooting settings. 99% I’m using snap focus. I use snap distance priority so I can easily change distance using the front wheel. I start at 2m and change accordingly. You’ll have grainy files using my ISO settings. Adjust the lower ISO setting if you want cleaner photos. Here are the JPEG settings.
Into the Abyss
Took this earlier at the Mt. Wilson Observatory in the Angeles National Forest. Simple composition, easy to make but I really like it. Point and shoot using a high contrast JPEG and it turned out.
Ricoh GRM
Please make a monochrome version. One that doesn’t freeze up all the time.
In Praise of High ISO
I shoot earlier at 1600 ISO and the photos are more than fine. Better for me to have high shutter speeds and a large depth of field. Plus I like a little grain and character.
