Sloppy like Joel Meyorwitz or compositional perfection like Alex Webb?
Late Start
I didn’t start taking street photography seriously until I was 37. Oh well, better late then never.
Social media validation…
hinders your growth. Likes from strangers influences you to shot for them, not for you.
Sea Lions Last Breath
My goal is to feel something. I ran across this sea lion the other day. All along the California coast, Sea Lions have been poisoned by domoic acid in the water. I watched this animal struggle for a few minutes and then I was on my way. By the time I got to the pier, I looked out and saw the lifeless body laying on the sand. Surely died a few minutes after I left. The next day, yellow tape was placed in the area of the fallen sea lion. I’d rather feel sadness then nothing at all.
Layered Photos
Look cool but kinda lack the spontaneity. Feels a bit staged to me.
A Leica…
is the most fun but watch out for the gear lust. Too many options.

You just missed a good shot.
Diving Into Film Again
Developed my first roll in a few years. Ilford HP5+ pushed to 800 using Ilfotec HC. Ended up with five keepers. Messed up the emulsion on about half the roll. Not sure what I did. Hopefully I’ll do better in the future but I’m not mad about it. Five keepers is good enough for me. I prefer the film aesthetic to my Q2M photos when comparing them side by side. Both have similar tones but the film just has that vibe all the nerds talk about.
Death Valley
Go 100 ft below sea level or up to 8,000 feet and play in the snow. In between you can roll around in a sand dune and clean off by skinny dipping in a spring. I’ve been to about 30 national parks. Death Valley is my favorite so far.
A Night Under the Stars
In Death Valley will change your perspective on life. Just look up and see how insignificant you are.
