The more I shoot, the more I’m drawn towards everyday scenes, with everyday people and trying to make a good photo from it. The obvious and extravagant isn’t as exciting to me. I’d rather try to make something from nothing.

Target Camera Selfie

Rule for selfies is whenever I see myself on a screen, window, etc… I take a photo to see what it looks like. The Target one is weird though. It’s a screen right above the self checkout. I’m just looking at myself while checking out. A bit odd but good for the selfie.

Santa Monica Highs And Lows

Sometimes, most of the time I’m walking around Santa Monica I’m thinking about how extreme this place is. The people here including myself just accept the daily insanity. I’ve noticed LA people are much more passive compared to east coasters. Just hanging on an island. Something goes down, don’t count on your neighbors.

Quality and Efficiency In Workflow

What’s quality? A pleasing and sharp image? Good enough to print? What’s efficiency? A library that is fast to maintain and process. A happy medium between quality and speed. Too much quality = too slow Too fast = less quality Meet me in the mid workflow. I think my current workflow is the happy medium.

What’s A High Level Keeper?

My general rule is about 5% of photos I take are keepers. Sometimes, lower, sometimes higher. My methodology for a keeper is simple. I glance at it and if it looks nice then I keep it.
