I am actually grateful for the people addicted to cameras.
I was thinking about this a couple weeks ago. Would Ricoh even exist without the gearheads?
I think the people who just want to try and test out new cameras are ultimately probably keeping Ricoh in business.
Sony is staying in business. Canon is staying in business. But a smaller company like Ricoh needs people to try out the cameras.
If I go on my local Facebook Marketplace, for how small of a company Ricoh is, there are a lot of GRs being listed.
So are the people who are constantly buying cameras and succumbing to their GAS actually keeping the wonderful Ricoh GR in my hands right now?
There’s no way to really tell, but I think there’s a strong likelihood that the people with GAS are actually keeping the Ricoh in my hands.
That’s why I’m actually grateful. I’m not even trying to poke fun. It is kind of funny if you think about it. Your addiction to cameras is actually helping me out with my hobby, which is bad and good at the same time.
But at the end of the day, it’s all just a learning experience.
Sometimes you just have to try stuff out on your own, even though there are a million people who have already told you the same thing: the gear doesn’t matter.
Sometimes you just have to figure it out on your own.
That’s the best way to really convince yourself that what all these other people are saying is true.
You have to go through the motions and figure it out like I did before you finally realize:
Yep, I do not need the gear.
